I would prefer colors such as:

These would be duller though; nothing too bright, the only thing that I could see being bright would be the red eyes of the Blackguard and Nightbane.

Images acceptable would be real life, not illustrations. However, we would accept the sort of paintings in styles similar to:

As for the format, it's all you.

Okay, so I plan on making several different skins, but right now I'm just working on the first one, and I want your opinion before I go any further. It's a mixture of dark greys and purples that's meant to look smoky, dark, and slightly... fae, I guess. Sort of concentrating on Duskwither and it's tragic otherworldlyness. If that makes sense. It's not finished yet, the background is all wonky and I haven't added any images to it, but I was looking at it, and it just doesn't seem to work. I was thinking I should make the boards a bit lighter, smokier, but since you know better than I what you're looking for, I figured I'd get your opinion.

Just tell me what you think works and what doesn't work. If nothing works, I won't be offended. In regards to the background, I was thinking I would change it so the stripes go straight down in un-broken lines without the diamond shapes.

I'm in the process of brainstorming a lot of the missing tidbits to the storyline, as well as in the process of moving my boyfriend across the country so things are a little less than hectic right now. I love how you described it, you seem to have very quickly grasped what I wanted the general layout to be. Something mysterious, ghastly, and tragic. The colors you have now are perfect, the only thing I'm having a bit of time adjusting to is the blue-gray. If that were to be lighter, or perhaps another color, I would have no problem with the darker gray.

I personally like it, but if you think you want to tweak something about it, by all means, go for it. I'm very flexible and I'm not extremely picky because you're doing me a great bit of help by taking this upon yourself.

I like the idea of the lines that go straight down. I'm partial to the diamonds, I think it would look better without them.- On second thought, the text boxes might be better off being lighter. I like the layout, but I'm curious to see what sort of images you'd be putting in here, and how they would be edited to match the layout. :3

I'd like to request something, if you haven't finished the skin yet. When doing the images, I'd like the lyrics from 30 Seconds to Mars' 'Kings and Queens'. I think it's fitting. C:

OMG, I'm so sorry, I haven't worked on the skin at all recently! DX My computer isn't behaving properly. But hopefully I should have it ready in a few days, at least. All that's left is changing the lines in the background, which I have discovered is a pain in the butt(XD), and adding the completed images. And yes, I can certainly add in the lyrics to the images. :3

In regards to the images, I was thinking of going for images of burned forests, and otherwise "desolate" looking nature scenes, rather than animals. Would you prefer animals or does that seem all right to you? If you want, I'll show you examples of the kinds of pics I'm looking at.

It occurs to me that I don't know how many side-tables you want, though, so if you could list the titles of the side-tables you want, I can create the header images for them.

Okay, I can do titles that way, no prob. ^^ I can actually do an affilate side-table and a marquee down below if you'd like. The side-tables could be for sister-sites if you do that kind of thing or for regular affilates.

For sizing, I'm thinking 200 pixels wide. That's a reasonable size, I'd say.

All right, the skin is up; I'm not sure if the side-table banners are what you wanted or not, though. I was going to make them all different but I was having issues getting them all the same shade of purple, XD. If anyone else thinks they can make better images be my guest, it won't offend me, but I think that's the best I can do, I'm not great with graphics.
